Throughout this workshop, you will learn the basics of 3D printing and digital 3D design. Using these skills, you will design your own 3D model and print the model on one of the 3D printers at the DCAC. During the online component, you will learn the basics of using TinkerCAD, create 3 different models with tutorials, and design your own model. During the In-person component, you will learn how to convert your 3D model into a GCODE file, that will be uploaded to a 3D printer to be printed. By the end of this workshop, you will:
- Understand and know how to use the basic functions of TinkerCAD
- Complete a series of TinkerCAD tutorials that demonstrate your understanding of TinkerCAD
- Plan and design an original TinkerCAD design individually that can be 3D printed
- Understand how a 3D printer works, and the various uses of 3D printing technology
- Learn how to use a slicer software to convert your designs into Gcode
- Complete a 3D print of one of the designs you have created
