LGBTQ2S+ Unit 6 - Allyship & Anti-oppression

Unit description:

This unit is dedicated to allyship and anti-oppressive behaviours and practices. We will address what it means to practice allyship, the responsibilities and roles an ally must take on. We will discuss ways to be anti-oppressive in our daily, structural, and cultural lives. We will study examples of common situations faced by the queer community, and share ways to respond that demonstrate allyship.

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • understand your role as an ally and as an anti-oppressive member of society
  • understand the ways oppression has power on many different institutional levels
  • respond to common situations in a way that practices allyship responsibilities
